FROM HOLLYWOOD'S GOLDEN AGE TO TODAY'S DANCE FLOOR
A LEGACY OF DANCE IN THE HEART OF LOS ANGELES
For nearly a century, the Westmor Ballroom has been a cherished part of Los Angeles' rich dance heritage. Originally established as the famed Ernest Belcher Dance Studio, the ballroom became a training ground for some of Hollywood's most celebrated performers, including Shirley Temple, Cyd Charisse, Gwen Verdon, and other legendary dancers of the Golden Age of film. Supported by influential figures such as Cecil B. DeMille, the studio helped shape the elegance and artistry that defined an era of entertainment.
Today, Westmor Ballroom proudly carries that legacy forward under the direction of professional dancers Valdas and Lilya Padriezas. While honoring its historic roots, the ballroom has evolved into a vibrant destination for ballroom dance lessons, wedding dance instruction, social dancing, competitions, and special events.
From first-time dancers preparing for their wedding day to experienced competitors refining their craft, students become part of a tradition that has inspired generations.
With its timeless architecture, expansive dance floor, and enduring connection to Los Angeles dance history, Westmor Ballroom remains a place where elegance, community, and the joy of dance come together.
